Port Alberni ACL Foundation

Was established to raise funds to promote the establishment or development of programs, and activities for individuals with developmental disabilities and to assist individuals to fully participate as valued members of their community.

The Port Alberni Association for Community Living (PAACL) is a registered non-profit society incorporated under the Society Act of BC, in 1957.

PAACL has a long and highly respected reputation in the community for advocacy and service to people with developmental disabilities and their families. Our history reflects the significant contribution of individuals, their families and friends, our employees, and other concerned citizens for over 50 years.

Mission Statement

The Port Alberni Association for Community Living provides opportunities for meaningful work, residential options, community involvement and support for adults with developmental disabilities and children with special needs.  We value the importance of families and friends and will facilitate and support efforts to nurture relationships.

Our Philosophy

The Port Alberni Association for Community Living believes that all people have the right to justice, opportunity, advocacy and access.  We believe that each person is a valued citizen and is entitled to live, learn, work and enjoy leisure as a member of their community. 

Funding and Community Resources

Our programs are funded by Community Living British Columbia.  Additional funds raised through DOB City Bingo and BC Lotteries allows us to run our Pathways program.

Accreditation

A Three-Year accreditation was awarded to the Port Alberni Association for Community Living for the following programs and services:

Child and Youth Services; Infant Development and Supported Child Development

     programs

Community Housing; Huff, Maple, Ninth Avenue and Westporte Residences

Community Integration; Connections Day Program and Community Employment

Host Family Services; Individual Support Services programs

Supported Living; Semi Independent Living and Community Access programs
